PRACTICAL GUIDE

Fill and sign a PDF without a paid editor

A PDF form may contain interactive fields or simply be an image of a form. Identify which kind you have so your answers remain readable.

Try the form workspace first

Open PDF Forms and upload the document. If fields are listed, fill each one and review its appearance. Some PDFs use unsupported scripting or specialised form formats; keep the original and check the exported document in the viewer required by the recipient.

For a scanned form, place text

Use Edit PDF to add text in the correct spaces. Handwriting fonts provide a visual handwritten style, while a drawn signature uses your own strokes. Neither option verifies identity. Use a reasonable text size rather than squeezing answers into an unreadable line.

Understand the signature type

A drawn or typed signature is a visual mark. It is not a certificate-backed digital signature and does not independently prove who signed or when. Follow the receiving authority’s signature rules. Do not add another person’s signature without permission.

Review before sending

Save with a clear filename, reopen the file and inspect all pages. Confirm names, dates, checkboxes and signature placement. If you flattened fields, keep an earlier editable copy so corrections do not require rebuilding the form.
